Poster Presentation Session The NorthEast Cerebrovascular Consortium (NECC) 6th Annual Summit October 27-28, 2011 in Boston, MA

The NECC planning committee would like to thank you for your interest in the Poster Presentation Session that will take place during NECC's 6th Annual Summit. Poster abstracts will be reviewed for acceptance for poster presentations at the summit.
The Poster Presentation Session will showcase projects, activities or current research within the seven priority areas of the recommended stroke systems of care model that include:
1. Primordial & Primary Prevention 2. Community Education 3. Notification & Response of EMS 4. Acute Treatment for Stroke 5. Subacute and Secondary Prevention for Stroke 6. Rehabilitation 7. Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives

Instructions for Submitting an Abstract
- Deadline for abstract submission is Friday, July 15, 2011
- Applicants will receive notification upon receipt of submitted abstracts.
- Abstract submissions will be reviewed by the NECC Planning Committee and notifications will be sent to all applicants by Friday, August 5, 2011.
- Expenses associated with the submission and presentation of an abstract are the responsibility of the presenter.
- Presenting/submitting authors must register and pay for attendance at the conference.
- Abstracts selected will be published on the NECC website www.thenecc.org.
Please follow the steps outlined below to submit an abstract.
1. Visit the following link and complete the required form: http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/WEB22C98FEHQNA/
2. Submit abstract electronically to necc@heart.org. Please include “Poster Abstract” in the subject line and remember to follow the abstract submission guidelines outlined below.
Abstract Submission Guidelines
- Limit of 2 abstract submissions per organization/agency.
- Use the following naming convention for your file submission: project leader last name- state abbreviation-poster abstract. Example: Smith MA poster abstract.
- Only Microsoft Word or Adobe PDF versions will be accepted.
- Abstracts are limited to 1,950 characters (approximately 300 – 350 words). Please use 12 point font and double spaced format.
- Please use the following sub-headings when submitting your abstract.
- Project Title
- Corresponding Author
- Purpose/Background
- Objectives
- Design/Methods – All statistical methods should be described, including statistical tests utilized to determine the significance of the results.
- Results
- Conclusion/Implications for Practice

The NECC hosted a free one-hour webinar entitled: “Abstract 101: Writing an abstract that will get published”. The purpose of this webinar was to provide helpful guidelines to abstract presenters planning to submit an abstract to the NECC.
Watch this Webinar recording and learn: How to design a research project, interpret data, and present findings in a scientific abstract. The main objective is to assist non-researchers in the design of appropriate research projects with objective results.
